Missile crisis
After the incident oh The Bay of Pigs, the United States in order to know what the Cubans were doing, they strated to spy them. On 1962, USA took some photos of Cuba and the saw some soviet missile, it turned on the alarm and started a period of several days called the missile crisis.
USA denounced in the UN that the URSS placed nuclear weapons on Cuba and that it was a serious problem of international security, they also think in enter in Cuba and started a war, but they negotiate with the Soviet Union, so the URSS took their arms out of Cuba.
The new government
After the fight, Fidel Castro wanted to get the international support (of one of the two most powerful countries in the world of those years) to his government and searched the support of the United States at first, but he could not get it so he went to the URSS and they gave him what he needed.
For the Cold War and the geographical position of Cuba, the United States got alarmed for the Cuban relation with the Soviet Union creating after some time the operation of Bay of Pigs from USA in Order to end with Castro but they failed and started bigger problems between them.
Cuban Revolution
A new movement started from the Cuban young people that had different political ideas and was led for Fidel Castro, who implemented a new strategy of armed struggle against the Fulgencio Batista's dictatorship.
On 1953 attacked the cuartel Moncada but they failed and were captured and most of them murdered, Fidel Castro went to Mexico in order to reorganize the movement and start the revolutionary war.
On december, 1956, Fidel Castro returned to Cuba and with the rebel army, went to the mountains and started to fight for several years.
On January 1st, 1959, Batista get out from Cuba and the Revolutionary movement won the fight against the dictatorship.
Carlos Prio Socarra (1948-1952)
He was the successor of Ramon Grau to the presidency of Cuba, at the end of his administration he got a military coup, and Fulgencio Batista took the power again and established a dictatorship.
Fulgencio Batista(1940-1944)
During his government, the Cuban economy grew up, thanks to the Second World War, but it gave more benefits to his successor Ramon Grau (1944-1948)
On 1892, the "Partido Revolucionario Cubano" was conformed by Jose Marti, Maximo Gomez and Antonio Maceo, the party wanted to remove the military from the power and reach the autonomy.
On 1895 started the necesary war and Weyler became General and returned the political stability to Cuba.
Jose Marti died on 1895 and Ramon Blanco took the place of the General Weyler
The United States supported the movement from the Cubans and with the pressure of the Americans, Spain gave to Cuba their autonomy.
But on 1898, the Maine exploded on the port of Cuba and sank; it produced the beginning of the war between the United States and Spain, USA won the war and took the last territories of the Spanish Empire in America.
The american congress approved the amendment Platt that let to the United States take place in the Cuban politics
